The Last Day of January
Today made me think how fast time goes by.... This month has just been fast like a lightning and I'm that one and only person who got struck by it and is now wondering, what the hell just happened!? And then -since I'm in this deep thinking state after the gym and glass of wine- I started to think how fast the whole year has gone. And how much has happened....And went through some photos and kids, they have changed soooo much. Emmi-Sofia from a little girl to bit bigger girl who can cook pasta and make puzzles and loves Postman Pat and speaks two languages.
Onni was just a baby a year ago. He was already walking, since he started so early, but just a baby!! Now he drives his toy tractor, speaks two languages, has a REALLY strong mind, eats and sleeps so well. Oh my... I might need to shed some tears now.Monday, January 30, 2012
My Junk Journal
I saw the idea of "junk journal" (completely new term for me at that time) in Pinterest -my Big Addiction at the moment. And it really clicked to me, that is something that is so ME! Using bits and pieces that I already have or havent' even thought about using and at the same time document our everyday life. Feel the paper, write with my hands...
On top of that I went through my old flickr-pages where I had tried (three time bloody hell!!!) 365 days -project, and realized, that 2 years from now, and all nice everyday stuff is forgotten if I dont document them somehow.
Cover pages were off the old book, which had suffered quite a lot. I covered them with tiny pieces of fabric and used rings to bind everything together, so I can add or remove pages if needed.
Inside (all the techniques were through Pinterest - oh how I looove Pinterest!!!) SO Iused some old pages of that same old book where the covers were taken off and used gesso and sometimes acrylic paints to make them ready. That way I have ready pages for every day if I don't have time to do the "base" work.
Then my very hidden -and very bad- artist is let free on some pages. It is so nice to draw, although I'm so bad....
...some pages I covered with old paint samples, stitched envelopes to hold card, photos whatever, and for my B-day I even used this "ONNEA=CONGRATS" paper I got from mail order company. Wee flips and pockets add interest and give more room to write if I feel like it.
Magazines are a great source... Lots of nice pics and words and sentences.
I got so hooked after seeing some reeeeally nice journals, that I bought some tags (they were -70% on sale is my excuse...)
And yesterday's page, with free printable tag, clip of a magazine and a tag.
I will add photos too -once they are developed. I bet the old paper is super acidic so let's see how long the photos last...
Journalling is sooo therapeutic and so relaxing! Journalling and sports should be mandatory to everyone!

Garden in my mind
The seed catalogue has made my mind a wee bit unstable.... You know, I'm in Finland, it is January and that equals to a loooooong wait until it is gardening time!
Couple pics from time before the kids (it means I had time to go to the hairdressers and actually harvest...) when I had just cleared this plot and the garden was just a tiny opening in the middle of a "jungle":
But we ate like kings, all organic and all from our own garden!
Then some things I really REALLY want (through http://gardeninginheels.tumblr.com)
1. Hens, these brown, cool hens! We had some, couple years back, but there was hawks and foxes who ate them all during couple nights... So proper hen house and locking them in every night!
2. Driftwood fences
3. Create time to rest and enjoy the views (hahahahaha, like that will EVER happen!!!)
4. Nice paths along in the garden
5. See the first one...
6. Lots of different perennials
7. Great use of cement wires
8. P E O N I E S!!!!
9. Sunflowers
10. and hydrangeas
11. Fence and gate
12. Nothing too structual, this sort of cottage garden feel
13. and more hens
14. Get proper path running through the apple orchard
15. and by the road
16. Get my own wee garden shed

Stones and stones
Valokuvatorstain haaste lähti tästä kuvasta:
The photo challenge this week started from this picture:
Ja minulle kivistä tulee heti mieleeni tuo meidän murheenkryynimme ja ikuisten haaveiden aihe: KIVINAVETTA (joka juuri mustavalkomaanantaissa pääsi esille...Todellinen julkkis siis!!)
And when I even hear the word "stone" and start thinking the sorrow of our lives; the old stone cowshed.
Dream no 1: I hope it doesn't collapse totally. If it DOES collapse, I hope it doesn't collapse on top of my children. Or on top of Irish. Or myself.
Haave nro2: Saisipa sen korjattua (alustava kustannusarvio, salaojineen, lämpimine sisätiloineen, jne "Omakotitalon verran" Thanks, juurikin sen verran tuossa sattuu olemaan ylimääräistä!)
Dream no2: I wish it could be fixed (the first price estimation was "Price of a house". Thanks, that's exactly how much extra money I happen to have lying around!!)
Dream no 3:if it could be fixed, I wish some profitable business in it. (The ideas so far have been B&B, selling organic veggies (which haven't even been written into the organic farming plan...OOPS!) Irish's million different export plans. Anything else, anybody??) I really do not want to return my well paid indoor job!!!
And the last thing I keep on wondering; why on earth did we not fix that to be our home???Since already now we are dreaming of more space!!!
Ja IHAN VIHOVIIMEINEN TOIVE; osaisinpa photoshopata nuo sähköjohdot pois kuvista!!!
And THE VERY LAST WISH: I wish I could photoshop the electric wires away!!!

Country people in the spa
I had my b-day in the beginning of January. Irish knew the huge risk of massive depression taking over the hold household, maybe lasting for days, and eliminated the risk of the kids being affected. The solution was a surprise trip to Naantali Spa. French Houselave, being Very Seriously In Love, hasn't been slaving around lately, had promised to babysit the kids and cattle over night.
This quiet was our wee village when we left...
Reissu vaati lukuisia pysähdyksiä, koska milloin iski suolaisen himo, sitten taas jo makean, kahvillekin piti poiketa. Kuinkahan kauan meiltä kestäisi aja USAN mantereen halki??!
And this quiet was Naantali when we got there couple hours later. Our road trip required several stops for salt nuts, for choco, for drinks, for coffee...I was wondering HOW LONG would it take us to cross the U.S?? 5 Years is my wild guess...
We thumped over that bridge sooo many times in our white spa slippers to swim and to have sauna and to float around( and have to admit, to stare at the people. Country people released into the public! Irish is sooo bad nowadays. He is convinced he can tell straight away who is from Russia, or Sweden or Estonia,. Even he can tell people from HElsinki, or Eastern Finland..What ever!)
(unohdin ekologisen omatuntoni kotiin, ihan vaan yhdeksi yöksi!)
There is an outdoor pool, and maaan what an experience to float in the hot water in the -10 degree temperature(I left my ecological consciousness at home for one night!)
Ihana illallinen!
We slept in that cruise ship, Irish had even booked the room with balcony on it. That was luxury, to go there and stare at the sea (frozen sea though). But before sleeping we had the Most Amazing Meal almost ever. Goes into my top 5 easily. Scallops made in thai style, chicken in the thai-chili sauce, fresh veggies, even just the bread in the beginning of the meal, baked in the spa bakery, was soooo tasty with olive oil and balsamico. And the wine! And the young Indian waiter, who was so patient explaining about the food and ingredients, even after his shift was over.
I was going to take more pics, but c'moon what a winter gear... TRAINERS??!? and minus ten degrees?? I was wearing woolly socks inside them though...
Koko kotimatkan napsin kuvia talvisista maisemista -ja Irlantilaisesta.
All the way home I kept on snapping pics of the landscape and Irish
Vaikka jo Raision kohdalla sain tällaisia katseita...Oh Dear, how he loooooooves me! ("Put that fcking camera away!!CLICKCLICKCLIKC CONSTANTLY!!!")
Although just 15 kms outside the spa I got looks like this....Oh Dear, how he looooves me! ("Put that fcking camera away!!CLICKCLICKCLIKC CONSTANTLY!!!")

Scavenger Hunt Sunday
1.Sunset
2. Black and White
We had sauna together and oh my she went crazy! I haven't seen any other child of her age bearing that much heath. Like her Mom.... After sauna, we had evening porridge and kids got to watch some Postman Pat (I bet even when I'm old and senile, I'll recall the lyrics of Postman Pat and nothing else but Postman Pat!!)
3. A Day in My Life
I had my b-day on the 7th. Irish had booked a night out in the spa and French Houseslave had promised to stay with the kids. This was all a Big Surprise for me until the evening of the 6th, when Irish decided that so much shaving is required before I'm accepted into the spa and he told me the surprise. We had a fantastic weekend in the spa situated by the sea. The seaview, even if it is frozen, makes me happy. Every Day in My life.
3. Four
Four of the huge cattle of mine. They are son like family pets. When I walk out of the house door and they see me, these four bravest ones come straight away to the gate to "MOOOOO" and beg for some treats. I think this farm will never produce meat... Would anyone pay to come and pet these little monsters, huh?
4. Colourful
Only couple months ago that was a blooming lavender. *BIG SIGH* . Basically nothing is colorful in the nature at the moment. I can not wait for the spring and colors to be back....
This post is for Scavenger Hunt Sunday
